GROWTH AND development

Infants head is 25% of its total body size Patterns of growth 1. Growth proceeds from HEAD to FOOT Infant needs to hold their head up before they can crawl Infants head is 25% of its total body size

Patterns of growth 2. Growth proceeds from NEAR to FAR WAVE Infant needs to move their arms before they can move fingers WAVE

Patterns of growth 3. Growth proceeds from SIMPLE to COMPLEX Infant holds their head up, rolls over, crawls, walks

Patterns of growth 4. Growth is CONTINUOUS and ORDERLY Similar for everyone but proceeds at an individual rate and time

Physical development Motor Skills Fine/Small motor skills-small muscles (hands and fingers) Gross/Large motor skills-large muscles (legs and arms)

Finger aerobics Spider push-ups- place both hands together with palms and fingers touching. Then, push the hands away from each other at the palm. Moral development Process of learning right from wrong Being a good example (modeling) is the best way to teach moral development

5 stages of development collage Look through magazines and find 5 pictures that are examples of these 5 stage of development. Cut them out, paste them on the paper, and write next to the picture why it represents that sage of development.
