The Victorian Age CHILDREN ( 1837 – 1901 ) What were the working conditions in the factories at that time? Where did they work? In factories, for wealthy people or families. Hard and strict. CHILDREN How many hours did they work a day? How many of them could write and read? How old were they? Very few of them. Before 1840 it was not compulsory to go to school. More then ten hours. They were less than 18. Some of them began to work at the age of five.
