Francisoc Vasquez de Coronado by: Alaina Hanisch

Francisco was a nobleman and a commander of hundreds of Spanish Conquistadors, who came to America in 1540 in search of wealth and fame.

Coronado had a rich wife who, along with the governor of Mexico, paid for the trip.

A priest had told Coronado about the Seven Cities of gold A priest had told Coronado about the Seven Cities of gold. He then went there in search of gold and riches.

There, he failed to find any gold, only American Indians, the Grand Canyon, and the Rio Grand Valley.

An Indian slave told Coronado about a land “where boats with golden eagles sailed past tress with golden bells.” He found no gold there and then killed the slave.

Francisco Vasquez de Coronado sailed back to Spain 2 years later Francisco Vasquez de Coronado sailed back to Spain 2 years later. Many felt he was a bad leader because of his mistreatment to the America Indians.

The only people that thought this mission was a success were the Spanish priests because he had spread Christianity.
