Food Service: Preventing Wrist/Hand Injuries Wrist and hand injuries are common in the food service profession. Here are some tips to help you avoid an injury. Incorrect Don’t rest on the hands! When you rest and lean on the wrist and hand, it places pressure on the hand’s median nerve, which can lead to injuries. Incorrect Incorrect Avoid using a PINCH grip. Tightly grasping objects between your thumb and first two fingers is especially tough on the hands. Try to grasp items with the entire hand. Incorrect Correct Confidential-Client Use Only
