Audi: Hear

Audience Definition: (noun) a gathering of spectators or listeners at a performance Example: Every art form has its audience

Audible Definition: (adj) heard by the ear Example: The children were audible from the next room.

Audio Definition: (noun) a transmitted example you can hear Example: The argument took an ugly turn when an audio tape surfaced.

Audition Definition: (noun) perform in order to get a role Example: When I was told to dress like a “movie star” for an audition, it turned out the audition was for a grocery store.

Bio: Life

Biology Definition: (noun) the study of life Example: At the same time, advances in biology have expanded the definition of life.

Biological Definition: (adj) pertaining to life and living things Example: “We cannot have a situation in which chemical or biological weapons are falling into the hands of the wrong people,” Obama said.

Biography Definition: (noun) an account of someone’s life written by someone else Example: Writing his biography was the most detailed paper I’ve ever worked on.

Geology Definition: (noun) the study of rocks Example: Geology- it’s not rock science. Oh wait, it is.

Geometry Definition: (noun) the mathematics of shapes Example: Though it’s difficult, geometry is the one math that I think I might use later in life.

Geocentric Definition: (adj) having the earth as the center Example: The solar system project I created is incorrect because it’s geocentric.
