Objectives of the planned proposal: Project idea: CLIMWATEMP: Climate induced Changes of Water Temperature and its Consequences in Rivers, Lakes and Groundwater Objectives of the planned proposal: Impact of climate induced changes of the water temperature on the ecological functioning, stability and resilience of aquatic ecosystems (surface and groundwater bodies). Development of tools to diagnose changes in the ecological and chemical status and to manage human impacts and especially thermal uses of lakes, rivers and groundwater bodies Main goal: to avoid deterioration or to reach the good ecological-chemical status as defined in the WFD. Partnership as of 11th June 2012: 1 Joanneum Research (Austria) 2 Carinthian Institute for Lake Research (Austria), 3 Institute for Lake Research Baden-Württemberg (Germany), 4 Deltares (Netherlands), 5 Fondazione E. Mach - Research and Innovation Centre (Italy) Additional partners are welcome in the fields: Limnology, river ecology, hydrology, hydrogeology, water management, socio-economics - provision of ecosystem services

Previous / on-going projects in the area: Skills: Water resources – exploration, water management Groundwater and soil protection Impacts of land use and climate change on water cycle Water flow, water balance, solute and heat transport models Applied hydrology and hydrogeology, environmental impact assessment, monitoring, modeling, prediction Isotope analytics and hydrology Modelling of residence time of lakes and groundwater using environmental isotopes Topics of interest: Water resources management under complex, multi-stressor conditions Previous / on-going projects in the area: SILMAS www.silmas.eu (ETC Alpine Space), ALPWATERSCARCE www.alpwaterscarce.eu (ETC Alpine Space), GENESIS www.thegenesisproject.eu (EU FP7), ECOMAN www.uatla.pt/ecoman (EU FP5)
