Les normes: Communications 1.2 Comparisons 4.2 La question essentielle: What is the difference between adjectives in French and English?

French adjectives: Describe nouns Must agree in gender with the noun they describe Many feminine adjectives end in ‘e’ Are gender markers Generally are placed BEHIND the noun they describe

Copiez la table: Les noms féminins Les noms masculins Une fille blonde Une fille française Une école américaine Un garçon blond Un garçon intelligent Un lycée français

Note: If an adjective ends in an e (not é) An extra e is NOT added: Un garçon sincère Une fille sincère Un élève timide Une élève timide

Pronunciation note: Final consonants are not pronounced in French: Grand – petit – blond When the e follows a consonant, the final consonant is then pronounced: Grande – petite - blonde
