Why didn’t anyone save them? The Nazis tried to keep the killings a secret from the world Most people in Nazi occupied lands did little to help the Jews A small number of people did risk their lives to protect Jews But, the full horror of the HOLOCAUST was not known until after the war ended in 1945

How many people were killed? Estimate = 6 million Jews were killed Estimate = 5 million others were killed Probably 1 million children Countless other suffered through torture and scientific experiments Drug testing Disease testing Transplantation Sterilization Weapon testing Nearly 1,000 years of Jewish history, culture, and ancestry had been destroyed
