Born- early years Robert La Salle was born on November 22, 1643 and killed on March 19, 1687 He was born in Rouen, Normandy (France). He was a member of the Jesuit Religious Order at a young age. He officially took his vows in 1660, but on March 27,1667 he was released from the order on his own request.
Sailing Career Robert went on two voyages. On each expedition, Robert went along with 25-50 men. Claimed the entire Mississippi Valley for his home country (France) His only ship was the Griffin His first expedition was in 1669.
What Robert la Salle achieved Achieved a fur trade allowance and support from France. Traveled to Canada and rebuilt Fort Frontenac. Established forts.
