Concise Analysis System Key: Red = Use always Orange = Use when able to Green = Top level developments Concise Analysis System What you should/could cover in developed concise analysis: Link to the question Link to the terminology (Lang/Structure – evaluating choice) Short Quote(s) Explain meaning and effect – both obvious and hidden (explicit and implicit) Zoom in on words/explore connotations and effect Suggest what other readers might think/feel (offering an alternative opinion) Link to the writer’s intentions (step out from the close analysis to give an overview of meaning) Explore a linking quote/supporting idea What this means: = (Start your sentence with key words from the question) = (Pink Booklet pg 4&5 has the techniques for exploring language & structure – mention the technique in your answer) = (sentence of phrase from the text you are studying) = (say what the obvious & hidden meanings are – linked to the question & quote selected) = (explain the associated meanings of selected individual words) = (say what alternative opinions there might be about the quote) = (the message the writer might have wanted to tell the reader) = (add another quote/idea to support your analysis)
