What is regeneration? Regeneration is the process of improving a rural or urban place by making positive changes. These include knocking down derelict buildings and building new ones (redevelopment), improving the existing buildings and area (renewal) or changing the image of a place through redesign and publicity (re-imaging). Learning Outcomes EQ1: How and why do places vary? Content By the end of the lesson, we will be able to give examples of ways in which places vary in terms of their economy, and how we can classify these economies. We will also be able to give reasons for why places have changed over time. Economic Sectors and Classification Each of you have a quick card sort. You need to match the economic sector with the description of the sector and see if you can identify places in the country where we would find these employment types. You have 5 minutes!

What key differences have we found? Read pages 198 and 199 (chameleon book) and make notes under the five sub-heading which are already in the book. Ensure you use statistical data to provide some evidence to support your points. You will need these for your exam question.
