Definition of Weathering Weathering breaks down materials into smaller pieces and breaks down human-made construction. It can be caused by physical forces and chemical reactions

Definition of Mechanical Weathering Mechanical weathering is physical forces that breaks down rocks into smaller pieces

Ice Wedging Ice wedging happens when rain or any liquid gets in a rock crack. The water will freeze during the colder months putting so much pressure and it evenly widen.

Wind Sand and tiny rocks transported by the wind has the same development as sandpaper as they scrape the outer layer of the rock.

Glaciers Glaciers will slowly go down the hill scrapping, trapping and tearing apart the rock beneath it.

Water Fast flowing water will rub against the surface of the rock making it smooth.

Chemical Weathering Chemical weathering is caused by a chemical reaction happening with water, air, the materials in rocks or another material. It can weaken or break down some of the stuff in it.

Water Water dissolves some of the rocks materials and if the water has any human made acids it will make the rocks disintegrate quicker.

Pollutants Pollutants can make the air create acid precipitation that can disintegrate more stuff than rain.

Air The oxygen in air can weaken any iron in substances in rocks.

Biological Weathering Biological weathering can sometimes make living things such as plants cause physical forces and chemical reactions.

Lichens Lichen develops on rocks and uses its goods as food, and creates a acid that disintegrates and damages the rock.

Plants Some plants can grow in rocks. The plants root will expand the rock causing it the break or make a crack.

Erosion Erosion is a movement of rock components moving one place to another

Erosion Erosion can happen swiftly by a landslide going down a mountain and can appear slowly by waiting hundreds or thousands of years

Gravity Gravity is a type of erosion that can make avalanches and rock falls.

Example of Gravity A landslide close to Hope, British Columbia sent millions of rocks down the mountain towards the valley beneath it.

Example of wind In some beaches, deserts or any place with sand, wind will pick up dehydrated, loosened sand and drop it off in piles called dunes.

Example 2 of Water The Fraser River carries billions of rocks to places and as its doing that the river goes through the land making a deep deep valley.

Example of Water In a delta, the water usually breaks into a total of tinier pathways and is separated by a segment of sediment.

Ice Layers of snow are being pressed together and the pressure moderately starts to turn the snow into ice

Example of Ice The weight of the ice size makes the glacier go down hill and the rocks and dirt that are frozen inside the ice travel with the glacier will be lugged for tons of kilometers before being deposit into a different place when the glacier begins to disintegrate.

Example 2 of Ice When rivers of ice is carried down mountainsides they destroyed the U-shaped valley and along the shore, most of the valleys were brimming with seawater after the glaciers disintegrated
