What is the SHCS? The only national study to look at physical condition Vital part of the evidence base A public information resource Conducted in 1991, 1996 and 2002 – now continuous

What is involved? Social interview – householder Physical inspection – professional Bringing professional and lay viewpoints together

How is it managed? Specialist team (Communities Scotland) Close links with policy teams (DD) Strategic guidance from a broad partnership of stakeholders –CIH, SFHA, COSLA Regular consultation on survey content
