The Gettysburg Address Abraham Lincoln Setting: The battlefield at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; November 19, 1863 Abraham Lincoln recalls the American Revolution, saying that America stands for freedom and equality. He says the Civil War is America’s greatest test. Lincoln then explains that they are meeting today to honor the soldiers who died on the battlefield.
