What activities are there for today’s youth to be a part of? Sports? The list goes on, yet one great choice is The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls Dance? Clubs at school?
What is Rainbow? Rainbow is a character building organization for girls between the ages of 11 and 20 that promote self-esteem, leadership and community service. The International Order of Rainbow for Girls is a 501C3 non-profit organization. Our motto is “Rainbow gets Girls ready for Life”- here’s how: Groups are for girls’ ages 11 to 20 We can be found all over the U.S.- and the world! Colleges require “Community service.” Founded on the fraternal values of Free Masonry We are a Sisterhood dedicated to helping others. Rainbow is an organization that helps girls to be better in all of their other activities!
What is Rainbow? Service to others, making a charitable impact on our communities Community service hours support college applications Create lasting friendships that extend past high school; lifelong sisterhood! Through service, create professional connections in the community
Why Rainbow? cont. Learn & gain vital life long skills: Public speaking Roberts Rules of Parliamentary procedure Event planning Leadership skills Confidence, poise, and etiquette Work ethics, fraternal values, and respect Honesty and loyalty
What does Rainbow offer? Scholarship opportunities: Masonry, Eastern Star, Amaranth, and Rainbow all offer scholarships to members Rainbow Camp of Massachusetts: Rainbow girls from all over New England partake in activities such as archery, canoeing, liquid embroidery, drama etc. Rainbow helps girls become better students by becoming better leaders
What does IORG offer? Cont. Three levels to participate: Local, State (Grand), and International (Supreme) Local: help your community, make friends with other members State/Grand: become a role model as a state officer or state representative and meet girls from all over the country and world. International: all jurisdictions meet every two years- in a different state every time!
What does Rainbow offer? cont Family involvement: parents are encouraged to be involved to guide members and be role models. Strengthens the bond between parent and daughter DeMolay: an organization similar to Rainbow and Masonry, for boys ages 12 to 21. Sons are welcome! (www.massdemolay.org)

Famous Fraternal Faces Mozart, Winston Churchill, Thurgood Marshall, John Wayne, Buzz Aldrin, Clark Gable, Benjamin Franklin, Mark Twain, Charles Lindbergh, John Philip Sousa, Bob Feller, Sugar Ray Robinson, Rudyard Kipling, Willie Mays, Benedict Arnold, Samuel Adams, John Hancock, Arnold Palmer, Thomas Paine, Paul Revere, Ty Cobb, Cy Young, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Li Ki-Shing, Tim Horton and many U.S. Presidents including George Washington were all Masons. Former Rainbow girls include: Supreme Court Justice- Sandra Day O'Conner; Astronaut Dorothy "Dottie" Metcalf-Lindenburger; Actresses Lee Merriwether, Ruth Buzzi, and Dawn Wells; Bobbie Shunk Gaunt, first woman president and CEO of Ford Motor Co., State Senator Carol Hudkins; and US Senator Olympia J. Snowe, Jill Kinmont- Olympic Skier were all Rainbow girls.
