By: Ashley Neybert Independence Science Sci-Voice Talking LabQuest(TLQ) hands-on Workshop for Engaging Students with Blindness in Science Laboratories Image description: Vernier SciVoice Talking Labquest 2 (TLQ) with temperature probe. The screen displays a logarithmic plot of increasing hand temperature and statistics of the data. By: Ashley Neybert Independence Science

What is TLQ? An innovative 21st century technology. The first portable handheld scientific talking data logger. A useful tool for blind and visually impaired customers to be able to independently collect data in chemistry, physics, biology, earth science, physical science, and more!

A Brief History of TLQ Developed by Independence Science in 2010 A partnership was formed between Independence Science and Vernier Software & Technology through a National Science Foundation (NSF) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant. This same partnership and more NSF funding has brought you TLQ2.

What’s New with TLQ2? Increased hard drive space Faster processor Internet conductivity Ability to allow for data sharing between devices A more intuitive interface Talking Periodic Table feature

TLQ2 Keyboard Commands F1 decreased volume F2 increased volume F3 starts and stops data collection F4 back and forth between menu and last screen F5 slows speech rate F6 increases speech rate F10 opens menus F12 switches between pages in TLQ App Arrow keys and Escape normal keyboard functions Enter selects an element in the Periodic Table
