The Fun They Had By Isaac Asimov

What if…………A robot was your teacher today? How would be class be different? Similar? What type of things would be possible? Or not possible? What would the advantages/disadvantages be?

Journal Writing Prompt: Choose ONE or TWO of the following statements and write about it in your journal. Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Why? What does this statement make you think of? Can you give any examples that support your ideas? What are some problems with the statement? True learning is best accomplished through individual work. We learn best when working with other people. Computers can take the role of teachers. Everyone learns the same way.

Share! Share your responses with your partner. PARTNER: Think of 1 thoughtful question you have about your partner’s response.

The Words find Each Other This is an old activity with a slightly new spin. Each person is going to receive ONE piece of paper with one of the following: A vocabulary word A picture A definition You should look at what you have and try to match your word, picture or definition with the other people. Once you think you’ve found your partners, find your word’s example sentence on the wall. Put your words down on the desk next to that sentence. After everyone has finished, you’ll leave your words in your place and spend 5 minutes at each ‘word station’ completing your vocabulary sheet.
