Disaster Recovery Plan George Burke

What is Disaster Recovery Disaster recovery is a plan which allows a business to function in the event of a disaster such as a hurricane that destroys part or all of a business's resources. Including IT equipment, data records and the physical space of an organization.

Where is it used? It is used within organisations.

Why is it used? This is used to inform users on what procedures to take to minimize the impact and return the company to working order as quickly as possible.

Benefits Restore your business in minutes. Continue business as usual with minimal impact on your day-to-day operations. Provides peace of mind that your data is safe. Minimise downtime. Reduce loss of service and revenue.

Disadvantages Backups may not be to date, meaning the business may loose information if a disaster occurs. Time consuming to create a plan. Staff may need training to ensure they understand what to do when a disaster occurs.
