Talking Assessment The National 5 Talking exam consists of two parts: Part 1: Presentation 1:30 - 2 minutes in length Part 2: Conversation 4:30 - 5 minutes in length This will take place in a quiet room with your class teacher and will be recorded for evidence for SQA.

Talking Assessment Part 1: Presentation Guided by your teacher you will have chosen and prepared a topic area based on a previous theme covered in S3/4. For example, if you have chosen a theme such as holiday in the past, this will cover activities you have already completed on a holiday such as travelling, accommodation, sight-seeing, dining out, sun-bathing etc.

Talking Assessment Some guidance for your Presentation: You will be allowed study cards for this, with a maximum of 40 words (not written as sentences). Your teacher will advise you on pace, style and pronunciation. You will have the opportunity to have your Presentation recorded by your class teacher.

Talking Assessment You must be aware that no part of the presentation can be re-used in the Conversation section (Part 2) of the Talking Exam.

Talking Assessment Part 2: Conversation Once you have finished your Presentation, your teacher will introduce a new theme. You will be expected to answer the questions confidently and with a reasonable intonation and accent. No notes are allowed for this part of the assessment.

Talking Assessment The themes which you can choose from are as follows: Self, Family and Daily Routine Friendship Pocket Money and Part-time Jobs Home Area Holidays in the Past Food and Health Education Leisure
