Summer Math Curse 2017 Ashlin Cornelius

First Math Story My sister and I went to a camp called Finish Line for Lacrosse. I went for a full day and my sister Grayson went for a half day. Full day was 9-3pm and half day was 9-12pm. We went for 5 days. How many more hours did I practice lacrosse than my sister Grayson?

Second Math Story My sister and I learned how to roll money this summer. We rolled quarters, dimes and nickels. Each sleeve of quarters equaled $10. Each sleeve of dimes equaled $5. Each sleeve of nickels equaled $2. How many quarters, dimes and nickels did we put in each sleeve? We rolled 8 sleeves of quarters, 4 sleeves of dimes and 4 sleeves of nickels. How much money did we roll in total?

Third Math Story One summer morning we made waffles for a bunch of our friends that spent the night. We decided to double the recipe, so we had enough batter for everyone. The recipe called for: 2 Cups Bisquick 2 Tbsp Vegetable Oil 1 Egg 1 ⅓ Cups of Milk How much of each ingredient do I need for a double batch?

First Math Story Answer How many more hours did I practice lacrosse then my sister Grayson? Ashlin: 9-3pm went 6 hours Grayson: 9-12pm went 3 hours 6 - 3 = Ashlin went 3 hours more each day 3 hours more x 5 days = 15 more hours I played lacrosse 15 more hours then my sister Grayson.

Second Math Story Answer How many coins did we put in each? Quarters: 4 quarters equals a dollar. The sleeve had $10. 10x4 = 40 Quarters in each sleeve. Dimes: 10 dimes equals a dollar. The sleeve had $5. 10x5= 50 Dimes in each sleeve. Nickels: 20 nickels equals a dollar. The sleeve had $2. 20x2 = 40 Nickels in each sleeve. How much money did we roll in total? Quarters is 8 x $10 = $80, Dimes is 4 x $5 = $20, Nickels is 4 x $2 = $8. $80+$20+$8 = $108 Second Math Story Answer

Third Math Story Answer How much of each ingredient do I need for a double batch? 4 cups Bisquick (2x2) 2 Eggs (1x2) 4 Tbsp of Oil (2x2) 2 ⅔ cups of milk (1 ⅓ + 1 ⅓)
