History Unit Main Ideas- Commercial driven programming model used for radio drives all new media including television. Broadcasting is a regulated monopoly business model. Broadcasters use public airwaves in exchange for giving public access to use them. Invention of Television was expensive and took many turns to becoming commercial viable in the 1950’s. Commercials pay for programs we watch. High viewer numbers drive programs. Successful ideas from the past are often recycled.
