What you can do to support people to be safe online

Email Advise people to only open attachments or follow links from people they know Make sure people have a good anti-virus and anti-Malware program on their computer Tell people the importance of not giving out personal information Tell people, that if they are not sure about an email, to show it to someone they trust Explain to people why they need to do these things so they know the dangers. You can make reasons simple. Don’t open an attachment it could break your phone.

Shopping on Line https Advise people to buy from sites starting https: Remind people to never put their bank details in an email Suggest people should use long passwords which they change every 2 months https You can use password management systems such as Smart Lock Show advanced settings and Manage passwords. Advise people to only put pictures online they are happy for anyone to see This is the same for smapchat as people can take screen shots

What to do if someone sends them messages which upsets them People can ‘block’ someone by clicking on the ‘privacy shortcut’ and writing the persons name where it asks them. This stops the person being able to contact them.
