The Beginning of the Great Depression The Great depression began right after the roaring 20's, it was the dramatic downslide for the economy. One of the main causes of the great depression was the Stock Market Crash or better known as "Black Tuesday." The stock market lost over 20% of its rates in only a few days and since the banks invested in the market they lost there money as well making half the nations banks close. The Impact on farmers Most Depressions never affected the farmers, but this time they weren't so lucky. The great depression hit them as hard as everyone else, they got hit with what's known as "The Dust Bowl" or "The Dirty Thirty's."The Dust bowl occurred because of a long and dramatic draught where farmers lived and worked. This caused the soil to go bad, no water, and dust storms. Dust storms occurred every day, if you breath in the dust you could get sick getting it in your lungs and many animals died because of this.  http://www.history.com/topics/dust- bowl#

New Deal After the election of Franklin D. Roosevelt he made it his number one goal to help the people he now has to protect and represent. In his first few days he put his plan in action, it was called "The New Deal." This plan contained many things to help both Factory workers/city folks, and also Farmers who lost there crops in the dust storms. Rural Electrification Act Was created to give electricity to rural areas during the creation of the new deal. End of the Great Depression Even though the New Deal helped a great deal during the Great Depression, it did not officially end until WW2 because the manufacturing of guns and weapons helped many poor and unemployed workers because the factories needed workers and the unemployed were the people for the job.
