PowerPoint Presentation Guidelines

Slide Setup To ensure that your presentation displays correctly at the Conference, the Page Setup needs to be set at the size 16:9

Tips for Layout and Design Choose a font style/size that your audience can read from a distance. Use graphics to help tell your story. Don't overwhelm your audience by adding too many graphics to a slide, however. Choose an appealing, consistent template or theme that is not too busy. You don't want the background or design to detract from your message. Make labels for charts and graphs understandable.

Are you including videos? Embed a video In Normal view, click the slide in which you want to embed a video. On the Insert tab, in the Media group, click the arrow under Video, and then click Video from file. In the Insert Video dialog box, locate and click the video that you want to embed, and then click Insert. Tip You can also click the Video icon in a content layout to insert a video. To ensure that your file is compatible, please check the Video file is one of the following supported format types (.ASF) (.AVI) (.MPG) (.MPEG) (.WMV), as per Microsoft’s recommendations. For more details, please see the link below: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Insert-video-into-your-presentation-7d9d3db6-23a7-46ec-9e22-3496e42996db

Saving your presentation When saving your files, create a new folder in which to place all of your media files that will be used in the presentation. Save the PowerPoint file to the same folder. When traveling to another computer be sure to transfer the entire folder, NOT the PowerPoint file alone, or else the video will not play.

At the Conference Follow the timetable provided as a guide to allow adequate time for your presentation to be checked, and to avoid long lines. Please ensure your presentation is taken into Speakers Prep at least 1 hour before your session begins. Remember to bring a copy of your PowerPoint presentation on USB with you to the Conference. Show up early and verify that your presentation works properly Speakers presenting between the following times: Visit the Speaker Prep room between these times: 9:00am – 10:30am 8:00am - 9:30am 11:00am – 12:30pm 9:30am – 11:30am 1:30pm – 3:00pm 12:00pm – 1:00pm 3:30pm – 5:00pm 1:00pm – 3:00pm
