The Monster’s Lair Word Connotation Snake-like Snakes are frightening and associated with the devil Read the description of Grendel’s Mother’s lair with your groups. Together, create a T-chart. On one side, list all of the words that contribute to the mood of the description (eight words minimum). On the other side, list the connotations of these words. Remember, connotations are the ideas or emotions associated with the word outside of its technical definition. For example, guest vs intruder, or frugal vs stingy.
