What does a Phonics lesson look like? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XddZMF1jAgo Say Show children how to say /p/ (pure sound not puh). Show children the new action and perform it together. Lots of repetition. Read Show children the grapheme and explain what it looks like. Write Show children how to form a ‘p’ using the explanation “go down the handle, back up and around the pan”. Children practise in the air, on backs, then on whiteboards. Blend Using green ‘go’ words (containing the sounds we have learnt so far) practise reading and blending the graphemes to make the words.
