The school policy on cell phone use found in your planner will be followed! 2. Begin working on the bell ringer as soon as you are in your seat. 3. Be on time! Tardy policies can be found in your school planner. ‘On time’ means you are in the room when the bell begins ringing! This will be strictly enforced. 4. Mr. Kuykendall COURSE DESCRIPTION Late / Incomplete Work Journalism 2016-2017 Late / Incomplete Work Absentee Policy 2016-2017 *My expectation is that ALL assignments be completed to a level of proficiency (70% or higher) and turned in on time* Printer and Internet issues are not an excuse for late work. * YES, WE DID SOMETHING IMPORTANT WHILE YOU WERE ABSENT. It is your responsibility to gather and complete anything you missed. *A student has two extra days to turn in any work assigned on a day a student was absent. If a quiz/test was administered on a day a student was absent, the quiz must be made up on the first day the student returns. If previously assigned work was due on the day of the absence, the work is due on the first day the student returns. Any assignment you are absent for will be entered as Incomplete until it is turned in. Technology Since this class is in a computer lab, it will be the rarest of occasions for you to have your personal electronics out. When allowed, cell phones, iPads, Kindles, etc. may be utilized in this class for academic purposes. This will only be when I have specifically instructed you to do so. However, if you are caught abusing this privilege (playing games, on Instagram, texting, etc.), your device will be confiscated. Also, be aware that technological devices are valuable. I am not responsible for you keeping up with them. IMPORTANT DATES: Oct. 12th & 13th – Mid Term Exams Dec. 19th & 20th – Final Exams COURSE DESCRIPTION The main function of this class in the fall is to produce the school’s yearbook. However, at times throughout the fall semester and after Christmas break, the yearbook workload is greatly reduced. In “downtime” the class will be working on Journalism assignments, and only the remaining people from the first semester will work on completing the yearbook in the spring. Everyone else in the class will be working on Journalism projects. There will be weekly (sometimes more frequent) projects to be completed throughout the course of the semester. Each project will be directly related to the course standards. The following is the link to TN Department of Education ELA Course Standards: https://www.tn.gov/education/article/english-language-arts-standards Cheating Plagiarism *The teacher will notify the administration and contact parents if cheating/plagiarism is suspected. Plagiarism is the taking ideas and writings of another and passing them off as one’s own. In this class, plagiarism includes... 1. turning in another’s work as one’s own 2. copying work from a friend before class (or while in another class) 3. including a source but failing to cite it 4. copying an author’s exact words and passing them off as one’s own Students caught plagiarizing will be referred to administration. GCSSD Board Policy 4.400 Upon request, parents/guardians shall have the ability to inspect the following items: instructional materials; teaching materials; teaching aids; handouts; and tests that are developed by and graded by their child’s teacher. Parents wishing to inspect such materials should contact the building level principal in writing.   I, ________________________________________, have read and understand the rules and expectations for Personal Finance. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to contact my teacher if I have any questions or concerns about any part of the syllabus.
