Energy is said to be the ability to do work. That means the ability to make something happen. By “happen” it means to make things move or change condition.
Forms of Energy. Nature of Energy Energy is the ability to do work. If an object or organism does work, then it uses energy. Work is the use of a force.

Types of Energy Write on the Right Side

What is energy? Energy is the ability to cause change. Energy is measured in Joules (J) and comes in many forms

Mechanical Energy The sum of an object’s kinetic and potential energy.

Sound energy Results from the vibration of particles

Electromagnetic Energy Energy that is transmitted through space in the form of electromagnetic waves Electromagnetic waves can be produced by the vibration of electrically charged particles. Comes in the form of visible light, x-ray, and microwaves

Chemical Energy The energy stored in the chemical bonds that hold the compounds together. Energy is released when the bonds are broken or rearranged.

Thermal Energy The energy an object has due to molecule movement

Nuclear energy The nucleus of an atom is the source of nuclear energy. When nucleus in an atom breaks apart or when two nuclei fuse together, energy is released

Reflection (Left Side) Draw a picture of each type of energy to help you remember each one
