CHARACTERISTICS OF FOUNDRY COLLABORATIVE TRUSTWORTHY RESPECTFUL DYNAMIC RESPONSIVE APPROACHABLE

Foundry guiding principles Comprehensive ensuring health promotion, prevention and early intervention. Timely, accessible, safe, developmentally appropriate, socially inclusive and equitable, culturally sensitive, and congruent . Youth- and family-centered, collaborative and empowering Integrated: via intentional partnerships and collaboration Evidence- based, trauma-informed and effective. November-22-18

Service objectives Provincial initiative that reflects a new direction in health care for young people offering multiple services at one site. “One-stop” storefronts providing a range of youth specific services integrated with the broader health care delivery system Youth Centred Medical Services, Counselling Services for MH & A, Peer Support, Parent Service Navigation & Support and access to Social Services November-22-18

General update & Highlights Foundry North Shore opened its doors for soft launch: July 5th, 2017 Since that day Foundry NS has seen approximately 254 NEW youth and young adults come through its doors.

Drop In counselling Hours: Typical Day 5-13 youth/young adults Monday & Thursday 1:00 – 6:00 pm Tuesday & Wednesday 1:00 – 5:00 pm Typical Day 5-13 youth/young adults 4 staff per shift Staff: VCH & MCFD Clinicians YOW Peer/parent support Smattering of 1&2 levels Mostly 3 & 4 – which could trigger a clinician referral Must have DSM criteria Readiness Barriers Drop in for weeks to test suitability – some move to clinicians others stay with drop in Words out – most come at start 1 pm YOW’S now starting at 1pm start the huddle together School counsellors Yews Parents Referals are being made as well to our social services Just started tracking wait times

Medical services Visits: July 49 August 38 September 39 Hours: Monday & Thursday 2:30-5:00 pm Exam Room Staff: Dr. Haley Broker Monday Dr. Lloyd Purdy Thursday Kelly McInerney 25 hrs wk. Nurse Practitioner Mostly young women, on average 2 young men, 2 trans individuals. 95% under 19 Mostly for oral contraceptives Growing number for Primary care services each month (10 in october) Hours will expand NP full time as of Dec 1 Harm Reduction site Naloxone dispensary training & take home kits Cross referrals are occurring as well counselling to clinic and back

Peer Support & family Navigation Peer Support Workers Have lived experience with mental health system Familiar with the available services Provide general peer 2 peer support Monday to Thursday: 2-5 pm Yvanna A. & Karmella B. Parent Navigator On site services to parents with youth or young adults accessing: Carlile Unit Kelty Resource Centre Foundry North Shore Service navigation, guidance, mentorship and general support to parents Works collaboratively with clinical staff and families By providing emotional support, assisting with wellness goals, sharing lived experience, helping you navigate the mental health system, advocating for your needs, finding what services and programs are available, and much more! Youth engagement & community building Sit on advisory committees Parent Navigator:  direct on-site services to families and other carers by providing support, guidance and mentorship in the areas of information, navigation, and resources so families may become engaged and skilled in supporting the mental health of their youth or young adult Dana Warburton Both services accessed through Drop in.
