Warm Springs’ Website Image of our school’s website Parents, students, and community all access our website frequently for “more” information Many of our parents & students use our website to access pertinent information.

Benefits of Schoolwires Copy and Paste from Word Post virtually anything Classroom Calendar Blogs Podcast short video and/or audio clips Homework Assignments Handouts Internet Links for projects/extensions Homework/Project Due dates Reminders Send out E-alert to registered users Limit view to students, parents, teachers, etc. Completed projects (virtual bulletin board) Policy Back to School Night Packet Wish List Photo Gallery Easy to use Create many different pages for your various needs Classroom calendar for posting important due dates, field trips, etc. You or your students can create blogs and podcasts to boost your curriculum (creates real audiences for student work)

Tour Jenny’s Page See what you too can do with your classroom webpage (section) Overview or “homepage” is your welcome page – should contain your contact information Schedule of your day with a Flex page Calendar for important dates – can use a flex page or Calendar page Photo Gallery of students, projects, and/or work. (make sure you comply with technology use policies – i.e. no full names of students) Booklegger books listing with a Flex page Web Resources – links to important sites (publisher, games, research, web quests, etc)

Ease of Use Select choice Follow on screen prompts Click Select Type Edit in Microsoft Word platform Save Done! Schoolwires is really easy to use. If you use Microsoft Word (or other word processing program) to create a newsletter, you can build a website with Schoolwires. You can literally cut and paste into Schoolwires from Microsoft Word (that is how I transferred my old website to Schoolwires). Each screen will prompt you through each step. Most options and buttons are self-explanatory Mac Users – the interface and choices looks different than PC users.

Access to workspace tasks Let’s Get Started Section Workspace This is where you will carry out edit tasks. You will be able to: ∗ Add or delete pages ∗ Edit content on pages ∗ Change the status of a page ∗ Rename and sort pages ∗ Role-protect a page ∗ Assign other Section Editors ∗ Access Files & Folders Need Help or learn more? Access to workspace tasks AKA: “HOME” This is the section workspace where you will begin accessing or creating pages The word “Home” in the upper-left corner will always take you back to your Section Workspace If you ever need a tutorial or additional resources to help you navigate, create, or edit pages you can go to the Tutorial, ClubSchoolio, and Community & Support sections

Access??? www.fremont.k12.ca.us/warmsprings Click on SITE MANAGER to get to your section workspace to begin creating and editing Using Internet browser you will need to type www.fremont.k12.ca.us/warmsprings On the Warm Springs Site you will click on the Teacher tab Click on your own name. In the upper right corner, click on Sign In Once you sign in it will take you back to the previous screen When you’re signed in the upper right corner will display Sign Out, Access My Info, and Site Manager NOTE: Site Manager will not be available unless you’re on your page (you don’t have access to edit other pages) Select Site Manager and a new window will open to your Section Workspace

Works just like Microsoft Word. Section Workspace Works just like Microsoft Word. You can type directly into the text box or cut and paste into the pre-set frames. If you don’t like it – delete it. You can rename the title of pages Click on the name of the page to edit Again this is your Section Workspace. Select Overview to begin editing your opening page to your classroom web page (you can rename the page by clicking on Rename) Example of editing window for Kathy’s page As you can see it’s very similar to Microsoft Word platform Don’t be afraid to click around and see what happens. If you don’t like it. You can always delete the page or make it inactive until you’re ready to show it Inserting images are quite easy as well. When you click insert image the popup screens will take you through the steps It’s not show here because it’s a lot of information being presented already Inserting Pictures Novice: Stay tuned to Part 2
