Types of Driver Negligence Contributing to Car Accidents

Most car accidents are a result of negligent actions by other drivers. The theory of negligence is the foundation for most car accident lawsuits. Different types of driver negligence contribute to car accidents. Here are the four main types:

Distracted Driving Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of car accidents. Texting or talking on a phone, adjusting the car entertainment system, reading a map, eating or drinking, etc. are considered distracted behaviors.

Reckless Driving Speeding, running red lights, driving in the wrong lane, changing lanes without signalling and passing vehicles illegally are some reckless behaviors that are considered negligent.

Disobeying Traffic Laws Every state has their own traffic laws. If a driver is negligent and disobeys the traffic rules, he or she can cause an accident.

DUI Many car accidents are caused by drivers who are under the influence of drugs, alcohol or other substances. When an intoxicated driver causes a crash, the court will probably determine that the driver is liable for injuries and damages.

If you have sustained injuries or losses in an accident caused by a negligent driver, the experienced car accident lawyers at The Reinken Law Firm can help. Our car accident lawyers will fight for the compensation you deserve.
