Boiling Water Make-up Lab Make sure you have the lab sheet to collect, record and analyze your data.

How to do the lab: The lab will basically take you through everything you need to complete the activity. Click through the animations slowly and make sure each animation is totally done before you click again. Watch the temperatures on the thermometer as time goes by (it is pretty close to how the real lab worked)

water (ice) into a beaker and measure it initial temperature First, we are going to drop a solid block of water (ice) into a beaker and measure it initial temperature On the thermometer, there Are three types of lines: Short black: 2.5 degrees Long black: 5 degrees Long blue: lower one is 0 degrees, middle one is 50 degrees, upper one is 100 degrees Solid Block of water (ice) Now watch the temperature as the time goes by. Every minute, take a temperature reading and record it in your data table. 350 300 250 SUCCESS!!! We have accomplished boiling water. Now take readings for 3 more minutes (no, the PPT is NOT broken) and then answer the questions on your lab: 200 150 Watch, as the “ice” melts away the water becomes a liquid. After the flame is added, the temperature will soon begin to rise 100 50
