CHIPS’ aim is to bring together the Iteso and Karimojong tribes in Uganda. The tribes are in constant conflict with their neighbours in Uganda, in recent years the nature and the outcome of the raids have become increasingly violent with the acquisition of AK47s guns. Currently, the CHIPS team is made up of Ugandans from both tribes who live together in the border area and work in community-development to help solve conflict between the two tribes. These peacebuilders are disarming rebels, resettling refugees, healing communities, reviving economies. They work at great personal risk on crucial problems like child soldiers, women and conflict, youth and peace, political violence. They are the key to preventing conflicts and creating a lasting peace. Peace Direct find them, fund them, and promote their work to those in the wider world who can help with finance or influence. Our world is scarred by violence and conflict. We believe that Christians have a responsibility to work for justice and peace. By being peacemakers and showing love to our neighbours, of whatever religion, belief, nationality or culture, and through mutual respect and the development just economic relationships, more people will enjoy peace and prosperity. ‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God’ Matthew 5:9
