Socratic Seminar The questions should be related to our thematic concept of Human Condition AND the texts you’ve been reading. I will look for you to use the Discussion Starters (academic discourse – see posters that have been on the wall all semester) as a part of your discussion as well. Ghandhi’s On Civil Disobedience (from yesterday) Solzhenitzyn’s One Word of Truth Outweighs the World (today) Wiesel’s Hope, Despair, and Memory (today) Voice episode from Grey’s Anatomy (we will watch tomorrow) Edward Scissorhands A Thousand Splendid Suns

Socratic Seminar What can you bring? Notes, texts, How can you prepare? Write questions, highlight important thoughts, mark important quotes in texts What should you expect? 20-25 minute discussion over big ideas/themes among ALL texts

Grey’s Anatomy As you watch the episode, take notes on the following topics: Voice Silence Power Language Pre-Seminar Questions from Yesterday’s Nobel Speech comparison What is the importance of speaking the truth in the face of adversity? To what extent are we responsible for our fellow humans?
