Focus a microscope Copy this to the back of your microscope diagram Always set scope to low power Visually line the slide with the lens Focus on low power using the coarse adjustment Move slide so object is in the center of the field of vision Change to medium power and refocus using fine adjustment Make sure object is in the center of field of vision. Change to high power and refocus using the fine adjustment

The eye piece lens of our microscopes have a 10x magnification. Determine total magnification (also on back of your microscope diagram) Multiply the eye piece lens magnification by the objective magnification The eye piece lens of our microscopes have a 10x magnification. The objective lens have 4x,10x and 40x magnification. Example: 10 x 40 = 400 total magnification

Making a microscope slide Copy on back of microscope diagram Procedure: Use the eyedropper to place a drop of water on the center of a microscope slide Use the tweezers to position the letter "e" in the center of the drop. Holding the cover slip at a 45 degree angle, lower it slowly over the drop of water.
