…what does the LORD your God require of you…? Deut. 10:12 NKJV …what does the LORD your God require of you…?

Responsibility Authority Communication Accountability

Responsibility In The Garden of Eden Gen. 1-3 Authority Communication Accountability In The Garden of Eden Gen. 1-3 Jesus on earth Jn. 8:26, 29, 54

Responsibility In all human relationships: Man with God Rom. 1:18-20 Authority Communication Accountability In all human relationships: Man with God Rom. 1:18-20 Eph. 3:3-4; 5:17 Ps. 100 III. All human relationships today involve responsibility: man to God 1. Notice authority, communication, accountability in Mt. 25:14-30 2. We have many responsibilities toward God, whether we commit to them or not a. Rom. 1:18-20 i. learn the things that may be known of God (God is, some of His traits) ii. all the claims of the atheist/agnostic are the result of suppressing truth which may be learned, known. iii. God holds man accountable for what may be known by what is made b. Eph. 3:3-4; 5:17 i. God has communicated, you are responsible to know ii. start with the basics, Eph. 4:4-6 c. Ps. 100 i. He made us, He has authority—we are resp to be thankful and express thanks by worship ii. Cain and Jeroboam show us what happens when worship is separated from the need for authority—man makes his ideas equal to, or above, God’s ideas iii. our responsibility to resist efforts to add playing to singing songs to God is not because of our tradition but because of His authority. d. We must include God in even the simplest decisions (what we eat, drink, wear, look at, and dwell on)--inwardly and outwardly, we have responsibility.

Responsibility In all human relationships: Man with man and God Family Authority Communication Accountability In all human relationships: Man with man and God Family "So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate." Matthew 19:6 NKJV For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3 NKJV IV. All human relationships today involve responsibility: Man to man and to God A. Think of how many people and kinds of people this involves 1. Society: family, friend, stranger, business, recreation 2. Spiritually: saved (weak, strong, unruly, leaders, here, elsewhere), lost 3. God is involved in every case B. In all my relationships, I must recognize God’s authority---family 1. The relationship called “Family” is a memorial of God’s involvement in human relationships 2. God has authority over who is joined Mt. 19:6 (text on screen) 3. God has authority over whether I may abandon my spouse Mt. 19:9 (text on screen) 4. His authority is never burdensome but rooted in love 1 Jn. 5:3 (text on screen) C. In all my relationships, I must pay careful attention to what God has said---the church (saved) Eph. 4 1. v1-3 the brotherly love I share with the church (how I think and feel toward spiritual siblings) 2. v4-7 the convictions I share with the church (what I learn and accept) 3. v12-16 the work I share with the church (what I do with what I learn) D. In all my relationships, I must consider accountability—the lost Col. 4:5-6 1. What if I never learn to walk in wisdom toward them? 2. What if I refuse to redeem the time, never seeking a serious conversation with them? 3. What if my answers lack grace or I am ashamed to answer a question? "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery." Matthew 19:9 NKJV
