ASD Outreach Staff Part-time staff: Full time staff: Teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing, school age specialist Special Education Administrator and teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing Social Worker with deaf family Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing early intervention and school specialist 2 part time Deaf Mentors Speech Language Pathologist with knowledge of ASL and visual communication development Speech Language Pathologist with spoken language therapy experience Full time staff: Karen K. Lange, Acting Director – Special Education/Early Intervention Specialist Nancy Reynolds, Administrative assistant, CODA, parent and grandparent Amy Yetley, Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Early Intervention Specialist Vacant - Audiologist

Outreach Services We provide services for D/HH children from birth through high school transition – services include: Audiological screening and diagnostic Part C – early intervention services for infants and toddlers Preschool consultation, mentoring and coaching services for preschool programs School age consultation, mentoring and coaching for school age population Specialized evaluations and programming development support Family centered home visiting program A variety of training options to increase knowledge and skills in working with children who are D/HH Deaf mentor services (new opportunity) Work collaboratively with other agencies, organizations and systems to promote better services for D/HH children

Arkansas Facts Rural state High poverty rate – 6th highest in US for childhood poverty = 27.3% (natl. Average = 21.6%) Total 2015 population = 2,978,204 Births in 2013 = 37,406 Diverse population, 10.21% infants born to Hispanic moms, largest population of Marshall Islanders in continental US Newborn infants identified as deaf or hard of hearing = 38 – 65 per year. 2013 = 38, 2014 = estimated at 55 Number of D/HH children – birth to 21 = unknown. No coordinated tracking system in the state.
