Singapore rainforests is a great place for the wildlife that lives there for these reasons that you’ll find out now.

In rainforests, (Singapore) the atmosphere is humid In rainforests, (Singapore) the atmosphere is humid. Singapore is close to the equator so they get sunshine all year long. In Singapore, the average temperature is 31°C but it never falls below 23°C so that temperature affects the temperature in the rainforest.

Rainforests in Singapore would be humid and wet Rainforests in Singapore would be humid and wet. Rainforests are covered with plants, animals, moss and trees and much more! There are rocks, grass and leaves all over the floor of the rainforest.

These are some of the animals that live in Singapore rainforests: King Cobra, Tigers, Boa Constrictor, Sloth, Toucan, Spider Monkey, Tree Snail, Morpho Butterfly, Rhinoceros Beetle, Poison Arrow Frog, Macaw, Frogs, Ants, Toad, Bats, Green Iguana, Mouse, Apes, Dragonfly, Cassowary, Snail, Caterpillar, Worms, Hawk Moth, Gorilla, Anaconda, Boa Constrictor, Spider Monkey, Spider’s, Orangutan, Reticulated Python, Parrot, Great Hornbill, Hercules Moth and Giant Cockroach.

The King Cobra is the world’s most longest venomous snake The King Cobra is the world’s most longest venomous snake. The scientific name of the King Cobra is Ophiophagus hannah. They can live for up to 20 years, can weigh up to 9kg and are approximately 4m tall! Believe it or not, the King Cobra eats other snakes and can sometimes eat birds and mammals (The snakes King Cobra’s eat are often ratsnakes, tree snakes and other venomous snakes, but they mainly eat ratsnakes). They rarely attack humans but one bite contains enough venom to kill an elephant! King Cobras are the only species of snakes that actively constructs a nest to incubate their eggs. They have a growling hiss which is a sign for the predator to flee. They survive in this habitat by using these strengths to find food. They can live up to 20 years in the wild. Did you know, that a baby King Cobra is as long as 45 to 55cm long!?

These are some of the plants in this area: Bromeliads, Buttress Root, Carnivorous Plants, Epiphytes, Lianas, Orchids, Saprophytes, Stilt/Prop Roots, Strangler Fig, Brazil Nut Tree, Poinsettia, Cacao, Rubber Tree, Heliconia, Sapodilla and the Tembusu.

The Tembusu is the largest evergreen tree in the family Gentianaceae The Tembusu is the largest evergreen tree in the family Gentianaceae. The Tembusu is native to Southeast Asia. The trunk of the Tembusu is dark brown with deeply fissured black,it grows in an irregular shape from 10 to 25m high. The leaves of the Tembusu is light green in an oval shape. The trunks are so hard, that they can be used to make chopping boards! People also use to wood from the Tembusu to make the floors from their homes and they LOVE to sleep on it too! The fruit that the Tembusu produces, is a bitter tasting red berry which are eaten by birds and fruit bats. Also the yellowish flowers that comes from the Tembusu has a distinctive fragrance. The reason they survive in this habitat is that termites don’t eat the wood from this tree. Did you know, that the wood produced from the Tembusu can last up to 100 years !!??

The 1978 Singapore flood was one of the worst floods in Singapore’s history. The destruction started on the 2nd of December at 1pm when howling winds, heavy rain and swirling waters were heard. The flood went on for 2 days and caused about $10 million Singapore dollars worth of destruction. 7 people were killed in the floods (6 drowned and 1 was electrocuted by a live lamp post. Trees were pulled out of their roots and over 1,000 people had to be evacuated from their homes by police or army boats (from 5 affected area’s). This was the worst flood since the 1969 flood in Hari Raya. After the floods, there were a range of problems like drainage problems.

In conclusion, the rainforests in Singapore are full of life, natural features like trees, leaves, plants, moss etc. The rainforest is nice with all the plants and the creatures are amazing. Overall the rainforest is fascinating and its a great habitat for the living creatures.
