Ephesians (62 AD) 1 Timothy 1:3 - Timothy was left in Ephesus to stop the teaching of false doctrine. Tradition - the apostle John came to reside in Ephesus towards the end of his life. The church in Ephesus was a very privileged congregation.

The Church in Ephesus Revelation 2:1-4 Likely written in the early 90’s AD. The Lord commends them for their works, labor, and patience. They have taken the warnings against false teachers seriously. However, He has one thing against them: “you have left your first love.”

However, He has one thing against them: “you have left your first love.” Faith cannot be inherited. A church cannot rest upon its past accomplishments, experiences, victories, sacrifices, efforts, etc. Each generation must run their own leg of the race with faithfulness, love, and zeal. To do this, each generation needs to learn from previous generations.

The Church at Knollwood We need to know of the battles that have been fought and the lessons learned. Need to know how “traditions” have been established. Need to learn from the mistakes that were made by previous generations. Need to appreciate what we have by learning of the sacrifices that were made.
