Building Paper 2 The Play-Doh Method

Start by doing some research Who is Kendra Okonski? What is The New Atlantis? Who reads it? What was going on in Spring 2009 about global resources and the environment? THIS GIVES YOU THE CONTEXT FOR HER PITCH so you can understand her point of view, audience, and purpose

Now go around the circle…

Put the raw materials from the circle through the Nosich Play-Doh Extruder Apply each standard Use the questions on p. 163 to develop STATEMENTS Come up with the E, E-I, and T to develop each statement Decide which are the best ones to use

Now put that together into an essay WA ch. 8 talks about using the evidence WA ch. 9 talks about making a thesis evolve WA ch. 10 talks about organizing the paper

But don’t get complacent… Don’t fall back on writing enculturated WRIT 101 “argument paper”; remember this is a different rubric! Show your work—use names of elements, FBIS, standards, SEE-IT

The outcome for paper 2: What you want is not a Play-Doh disaster…. What you want is something that shows your new and improved thinking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLUAbkRUvVQ.
