What are infinitives? They are formed by taking “to” plus a verb To go, to run, to fly, to swim Infinitives are verbals that can be adjectives, adverbs, or nouns! Beware of to plus a noun or pronoun… That would be a preposition Let’s deal with infinitives as nouns…

What are the functions of a noun? SUBJECT DIRECT OBJECT INDIRECT OBJECT (not too often) OBJECT OF THE PREPOSITION (hardly ever) PREDICATE NOMINATIVE THAT’S PREDICATE NOMINATIVE

So, tell me how these infinitives are functioning. To win is important. I hate to lose. My goal is to travel. We went to the mall.
