Lesson 4.5 Comparing Fractions and Mixed Numbers Essential Question: How do you compare and order fractions and mixed numbers?

Before we start… Mark had two math quizzes this month. On the first quiz he got 24 out of 30 questions correct. On the next quiz, he got 15 out of 20 correct. On which quiz did he receive the higher score?

We can turn fractions with different denominators into fractions with the same denominator.

What is a least common denominator? The least common multiple of the denominators The LCD helps us to compare fractions.
