Traffic Sign Reduction Committee The purpose of the committee was to review the existing roadway signs on our local and state highways throughout Jefferson Parish with an opportunity for further beautification by reducing unnecessary signage

The Game Plan Focus on higher volume state routes in Jefferson Parish 9 routes were selected on both the East and West banks of the Mississippi River

How Did They Get There? Old Construction Projects Sign Technician error Field conditions that do not apply anymore Policy changes

Positive Outcomes Removed a total of 116 signs from all 9 selected routes Continuing Education exercise for both Engineering Staff as well as Sign Technicians Validation of DOTD’s practices and procedures

Moving Forward Continue our efforts to other routes and other parishes Conduct regular training with staff on policies and practices Continue to provide detailed feedback to the customers we serve.
