Welcome to 7th grade Texas History!! Howdy y'all Welcome to 7th grade Texas History!!

What do you think of when you hear the word "Texas"?

...people definitely have an image of Texas in mind. What is it about Texas that captures the imagination?

What makes Texas so unique? Its history!!!

Texas joined the Confederacy during the Civil War. We are obviously part of the US today, but would you believe...

Texas was its own country at one time? The Republic of Texas

No other state can claim such a unique history. Because of our unusual history, Texans have developed a unique cultural identity.

There is a real confluence of cultures in Texas.

Think of culture as many rivers. Rivers sometimes flow into each other. This is called a confluence.

Cultures do the same thing. European immigrants Mexican French Spanish Native American American Texas has been shaped by the confluence of cultures that have “flowed” through our history.

This year we will explore Texas’s unique history and cultural identity. Let’s take a look at the units we will study.
