STUDY ABOUT CHEMIC AL PROCESS & CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY

INTRODUCTION CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY IS A BRANCH OF APPLIED CHEMISTRY THAT CONCERNS TECHNICAL METHODS AND DEVICES IN ORDER TO MANUFACTURE A CHEMICAL PRODUCT. IT’S A BARNCH OF APPLIED CHEMISTRY IN WHICH WE STUDY ABOUT THE WHOLE PROCESS (RAW MATERIAL TO PRODUCT FORM) MANUFACTURING OF ANY PRODUCT

FLOW SHEET :- IT IS A DIAGRAM THAT SHOWS THE OEDER OF STEPS IN A PROCESS FROM RAW MATERIAL TO FINISH PRODUCT BY THE HELP OF SIGNS OF PROCESS INCULUDES EPUIPMENTS , REACTION VESSEL ETC.

MANUFACTURE OF SUGAR FROM SUGARCANE :- INTRODUCTION:- SUGAR OCCURS IN GREATEST QUANTITIES IN SUGARCANE AND SUGAR BEETS FROM WHICH SUGAR IS SEPRATED ECONOMICALLY AND COMMERCIALLY. CHEMICAL FORMULA:- C12H22O11 MOLECULAR WEIGHT:- 342 DENSITY= 1.58kg/m3

PROCESS FLOW SHEET

RAW MATERIAL: SUGARCANE

FUNCTIONAL ROLE OF VARIOUS PROCESSES CUTTER:- 1.) THE CUTTER CONSISTS OF KNIVES ON A CYLINDRICAL SHAFT WHICH ROTATE AT A VELOCITY OF 400 TO 500 rpm. 2.) THE KNIVES CUT THE CANES INTO SMALL PIECES. CRUSHER:- 1.)CANES ARE SHREDDED HERE. 2.) IT CONSISTS OF TWO ROLLERS ROTATING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION.

PRESSURE MILL Crushed canes are passed through several mills . Each pressure mill is made up of cast iron rolls . Rolls are grooved and the width decreases from first roll to last . About 80- 90% of juice present in cane is extracted .

CLARIFIER There are two method for manufacture of white sugar Sulfitation Process and Carbonation process . The juice now comes to thickener . Calcium phosphate is added to followed the lime of milk The milk of lime is added to 9 to 10% strength
