APTA Safety Management Audit Program Update Program is now more aligned with Safety Management Systems (SMS), and the requirements from the FTA (PTASP NPRM, SSO Rule and Program Rule) and the FRA (Part 270) Program now has a direct connection to Transit Asset Management (TAM); and Not only for rules compliance, but also continuous improvement of the safety of transit systems Supports/ complements compliance with all system safety regulatory mandates from FTA, FRA, Transport Canada, and SSO agencies. Includes the following benefits to participating agencies: Enhanced SMS processes established for service delivery and workplace safety A tool for demonstrating transit system diligence for safety A mechanism for continual improvement of system safety Centralized coverage of bus, urban rail, and commuter rail modes Have a one pager printed for each of the rail, commuter rail and bus audit programs which provide an overview of each of the programs MTR Audit in Hong Kong: APTA providing Safety Management System Audit of the MTR’s operations During the course of the 3 year agreement (2017-2019) : teams of up to 11 peer auditors engaging in on-site reviews of 3 weeks in 2017, and 10 days in the subsequent 2 years. The total cost of the agreement for the 3 years is $448,000 U.S. The audit activity is required by the MTR to satisfy the requirements of the Hong Kong Government
