William Howard Taft Interstate Commerce Commission 16th and 17th Amendments Created the parcel post system Payne-Aldrich Tariff Act Dollar Diplomacy (gave loans to struggling Latin American countries)

Woodrow Wilson Elected president when Taft and Roosevelt split the Republican vote (lost the popular vote) New Freedom: focus on antitrust legislation, low tariffs, and reforms in banking Clayton Anti Trust Federal Trade Commission (investigated businesses, broke up trusts) Underwood Tariff- lowered tariffs Federal Farm Loan Act Created the Federal Reserve Progressive Income Tax

Today’s Assignment You may either: Create a 16 line rap or song about one of the Progressive Presidents (5 extra points for performing) Write obituaries over each President (Six sentence minimum, including facts about presidency and life) Draw 2 political cartoons over each President clearly indicating point of view over decisions, beliefs or legislation of the President. You must also write two sentences explaining each cartoon.
