EFSA’s mandate is to Food and feed safety advice to its principal partners, stakeholders and the public at large in a clear and accessible way. Unlike other agencies of the EU, EFSA’s communication mandate is enshrined in its founding regulation – it is not an optional add-on!

ECDC ECHA EEA EMA EFSA EU AGENCIES EFSA is one of more than 40 decentralised agencies in the EU, which contribute to the implementation of EU policies. They also support cooperation between the EU and national governments by pooling technical and specialist expertise from both the EU institutions and national authorities. They work on issues and problems affecting the everyday lives of the 500m people living in the EU. They have a major impact, providing EU institutions and countries with specialised knowledge in areas as diverse as: the food we eat our medicines the chemicals we come into contact with our education the quality of our working lives & environment

Established cooperation IPA/ENP countries outside Europe... Partners (with MoU) – 3 international bodies : FAO, WHO, EPPO and 11 experienced risk assessment bodies FSANZ, Health Canada, CFIA, China (CFSA), Chile, Japan, USDA, USFDA Established cooperation: Russia, S. Korea, India, Asean countries, Taiwan IPA/ENP countries: EFSA has extensive contacts with the food safety authorities in Candidate countries under the EFSA Pre-Accession Programmes funded from the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA).  Current candidate countries are: Montenegro, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Albania. EFSA cooperates also with EU neighbouring countries with funding from the European Neighbourhood Policy Instrument (ENPI). Through this Programme EFSA is actively pursuing greater integration of the following countries into its work: Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, Georgia, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Morocco, Palestine**, Tunisia and Ukraine. OUR STAKEHOLDERS Consumer organisations Distributors & HORECA Practitioners’ associations Farmers & primary producers EFSA’s stakeholders are representative organisations that have an interest in the Authority’s work or in the wider food and feed sector. Registered stakeholders can engage with EFSA through a combination of standing and ad-hoc platforms, led by the Stakeholder Forum and the Stakeholder Bureau.
