Christopher Lamb’s Colonial Classroom Christopher was an apprentice teacher for 5 years before taking charge of his own classroom in colonial New England. He rejected using beatings to intimidate students into learn. Rather, he provided rewards and punishments (including taunts) which were considered revolutionary.
Colonial New England God and religion were the main focus of the colonial classroom. School was meant to “save souls” and all learning revolved around the Bible. In loco parentis- means “in place of the child’s parents”
