Presentation transcript:

The Golden Rules of Story Writing Start the story with an action, dialogue, or Thoughtshot. Write your story as if it has happened already NOT as if it is happening now. Set the scene: introduce the setting, characters, and problem. Include figurative language, brushstrokes, snapshots, thoughtshots, and dialogue. Create separate paragraphs—see your Notes. Describe the characters feelings, sights, sounds, smells, not just sights.

Story Path Exposition—introduce the character and setting. Set the mood. Start with dialogue, action, or Thoughtshot. Rising Action – Some events happen. The characters do something that leads to a problem. Problem- something goes wrong. The character must find a way to solve it. Climax-the most intense part of the story. The character is faced with a choice. Falling Action-what happens as a result of the climax. Resolution- What has been learned? How has the character changed?
